Why I love Barbara Wright

Today, I will be writing about a special character that I have recently started to watch and admire. Barbara Wright played by Jacqueline Hill Who was the first ever character to speak and appear in the entire history of Doctor Who and the first person to encounter a Dalek and scream at them.

Caring!

Barbara didn’t put herself first and cared for others and help them. She would look after Susan when she’s was scared or if the Doctor asked her to. She felt sorry for Vicki she wasn’t terrorised by Koquillion and was the first person to suggest that Vicki should come with them.

Sassiness

She stood up to the Doctor when they were trapped in the TARDIS in The Edge Of Destruction and told him the times they saved him in the past. Despite that, it wasn’t enough but it showed that Barbara felt he needed a telling off.

Knowledge

I loved Barbara being the brainy one as she discovered what was wrong with the TARDIS and it helped the Doctor fix the TARDIS in The Edge Of Destruction. Also, as a History teacher, she was able to know what was happening even though she once tried the change history in the Aztecs but failed but did a good thing.

Toughness

Barbara was the tough one as she faced harsh moments but always got out thanks to her toughness and protectiveness towards other.

Ian

This is the best thing about Barbara. She and Ian were good friends but much more, Ian’s worry for her when she was in danger proved that these two were meant to be together. They both took a risk in the Chase that could have killed them, but luckily they escaped it just before it exploded even though they were two years off. Later if you read DWM (Doctor Who Magazine) they get married in the comic strip where thy meet the Eleventh Doctor.
