Ncuti Gatwa’s Casting Is A Good Sign For RTD

We all know now that Ncuti Gatwa will be the New Doctor. He is the first Doctor to be born outside of the UK, First main black Doctor and is also the FOURTH Scottish Doctor following Sylvester McCoy, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi. He is the first Doctor to be born in the 1990’s as well.

My reaction has been nothing but positive. I am relieved that they have avoided the option that would have been the wrong direction to go. I have watched clips of Ncuti as Eric Effiong from Sex Education and I like him. He is only a few years older than me which will allow me to relate to him. I didn’t mind if I couldn’t because I would learn something new but it doesn’t matter as it will still happen.

Why do I think his casting is a good sign for RTD 2?

I have been a bit disappointed with things before this because it just feel we were going back to the days when the show was run by problematic crew and to was the same crew but thanks to Ncuti’s casting, it’s given me hope as I don’t feel he will be like 10 but more towards 11 as people have said but with his own personality blended in later on.

What are Ncuti’s chances?

I feel he has a chance to penetrate some of the rankings. I feel he is the Doctor but I know he will be even better & hopefully be one of my Doctors & save RTD but it will sadly overshadow 10 unless things change which is a possibility as maybe there is a chance I love David again.

The biggest set back will be a romance if they go for it because of Thasmin occurring at this moment. I have been a huge fan of Thasmin and have had a journey to get to this point. If it happened again, the only way it could work is if they skip a series and if he stays, he could attempt it but then again they may not do it but the options are there.

I feel that because in real life, me and Ncuti are at a similar age, I think that’s where I can see of connection and that’s very good. Plus, he will connect with the black community and they will have a role model which is amazing.

What are you looking forward to in the Ncuti Gatwa era?
