The Peter Show – Heaven Sent Review

Peter Capaldi definitely is a great actor and unlike people who say it’s boring. Heaven Sent is probably a masterclass episode and it’s in the 2/3 of the finale which is like 3 parter but 3 different episodes.  If you haven’t seen my Face The Raven review, click the link below.

Heaven Sent is centered around the Doctor after the events of Face The Raven who is trapped in his Confession Dial which we saw in the Magicians’s Apprentice and he later takes it with him in There Witch’s Familiar. He is hunted down by the Veil who is held back every  he tells a truth but is killed when he has no more lies, always in Room 12 and is able to activate the teleport using himself as the source before he succumbs to the effects and brings back a new Doctor every time. It takes him 4 and a half billion years when he is able to escape the Confession Dial by using his hands only to punch the glass which remains unchanged every time the Doctor visits the room and lands on Gallifrey and reveals that he is the Hybrid.

Peter is a great actor and his monologues and speeches make him stand out and puts on a emotional performance which is amazing. The scene where he breaks the wall is like it’s passionate as he wants to escape and make whoever did this to pay a price.

Clara’s death kind of is the driving force for this episode as the Doctor’s grief and anger of a strength and a weakness for him. The mind palace scenes  are quite powerful and emotional but it works and when Clara finally faces the Doctor and speaks, you can see him as he is about to cry but she is able to give the encouragement to carry on.

Twelve gets tearful after seeing a vision of Clara

This might divide the Twelve fans but as had to include as this is quite interesting:

Fans have also stated that this kind of episode might have worked with the Tenth Doctor when he lost Rose in the Battle of Canary Wharf as she was tuck in a Parallel Universe and may have changed him in S3 but if he did, I am not  sure he would have done as well as Twelve though.

Rachel Talalay does a amazing job especially with the locations. She worked closely with Peter giving each other advice which makes this more worthwhile. This work contributes to Peter asking her back for his last episode in 2017 and also directing Jodie Whittaker’s first scene.

Steven Moffat probably has done his best story on his tenure int en show with this episode, he wrote something amazing and waited for the correct Doctor to star in this episode. It was Peter and once again, they worked together very well.

Murray Gold has impressed the 12 fans with the music and he definitely made a statement with the piece Breaking The Wall which worked well when the Doctor successfully breaks out of the Confession Dial and is quite popular and even used in Twelve’s final scene. Murray definitely did wonders and is missed on the show.

I love this episode so much and Peter should be proud of this as this is kind of yeh highlight of S9 and this is definitely episode that should be appreciated and all ages love it so this can be loved by all age groups. It’s a team effort and will always be remembered and be a episode that can scare people!

Score: 10/10
