Twice Upon A Time Review

End of era for Peter Capaldi but what an end and the best episode we have had in a long time so why is it that great?

There were complaints that it shouldn’t have been a multi Doctor story however it was great as it shows a comedy side and I enjoyed Twelve telling off One for being quite harsh on himself and Bill and the Captain played by regular writer Mark Gatiss who had his best role out of the 4 he has played and is he related to the Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart?

David Bradley played the First Doctor and did it in a cool way and they were concerns about him being a bit hard on the women and I agree as he was written a bit too harsh however I definitely think it was an effort to try and make him different but nonetheless was a great idea and I loved it.

Now time to talk Pearl Mackie who returned as Bill for one last time and this time was a memory that acted liked a human and loved her portrayal this I enjoyed and for the third time swore and got a telling off by the first Doctor for her language. Just love the end and the addition of Matt Lucas as Nardole and saw them hug the Doctor goodbye. Also we saw a short cameo of Clara Oswald played by Jenna Coleman as the Doctor finally remembered her after the memory wipe in Hell Bent. I loved the fact that all 3 regulars were the only ones to appear as they’re were too many in End of Time so that is why I prefer this episode.

One of the best moments was when original recordings were merged with the newly filmed footage as it showed that Rachel Talalay again delivered with a good skill of directing.

I loved the fact that we saw a bit of history with the Christmas truce and twelve knowing the the Captain would survive as we saw. But why did the glass people take the Captain in the first place which is something we will never know.

Peter shone when it counted and performed the best he could as we saw him hug his friends with acceptance as we saw him not a hugging person in his first episode. We saw him be a gentleman AGAIN as he asked Bill to take a stroll with him as they walked arm in arm around the battlefields plus gave his best speech to his successor and proud sepite the fact he had one day to learn it and that is a true champion. I will miss you Peter!

Finally, Jodie Whittaker has proved that she is a good choice as her Doctor was happy to be a girl and a few comedy moments as she was thrown out of the TARDIS presumably to protect her from the explosion and to rebuild for the next era. Welcome aboard Jodie!
