Jodie brings her A Game – Resolution Review

Jodie Whittaker is probably one of my favourite Doctors and there is more potential for her as we saw in Resolution where she and her friends have to face a Reconnaissance Dalek who takes over the body of Lin (Charlotte Richie) to try and recover a body and contact the Dalek fleet to take over Earth. Meanwhile Ryan and Graham face a blast from the last when Ryan’s dad Aaron (Daniel Adegboyega) returns to try and fix with his son.

My expectations for Jodie was to a be a bit darker and she didn’t disappoint as I saw more tougher and that is what I would love to see a bit more of 2020.

Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are continuing their chemistry very nicely and we see Graham more closer with Ryan and a bit more protective of his Grandson but starts to help Aaron see why he needs to see his ways. Ryan is amazing as we see him show his anger at his dad on why he left him but later forgives him when he saves him from the Dalek who attempts to take over his Dad avoid falling into a Supernova which also shows Ryan’s confidence grow whilst battling dyspraxia.

Mandip Gill was amazing in this episode but I don’t think Chibnall has giving Mandip her potential yet and am hoping his promise for S12 to give her a storyline is true as Mandip deserves much better as she had some moment likes contacting Mitch and introducing Mitch and Aaron to the TARDIS and her respect for the Doctor but is there more to their friendship? We will see.

I loved Chibnall’s idea this episode and he finally did a proper alien episode. I loved the idea of a Dalek possessing a human which is a different to The Dalek puppets we had in Asylum of the Daleks. I loved the temporary body for the Dalek as I expected a redesign and the crew didn’t disappoint but this is just temporary and hoping they do a proper invasion story next time as this time we saw more risk of death and more body counts than we have seen in the recent series so I am glad we had a more deadly foe. Chibnall did it at the right time. I was like don’t kill that nice tech guy and they killed him. I do like the new effect for when the Daleks kill and the eyestalks as it’s a great for a change and shows that they need to evolve and not keep the same design. Welcome back Nicholas Briggs and it’s great to have you back.

Charlotte Ritchie, Nikesh Patel and Daniel Adegboyega were amazing guest stars. Call the Midwife fans loved Lin as much as I did. Sometimes I felt like angry cause she was killing people but she was controlled by the Dalek but glad she fought it off and she deserved a happy ending with Mitch and so did Aaron who made up with Ryan.

I think the hiatus will be hard but we got through it in 2016 due to injury Peter Capaldi gained when filming and he need to rest but he was back fighting fit and was amazing. I think this will be great as they have plenty of time to film but the main thing is that we get a year longer with Jodie.

Great episode and hoping S12 will be a improvement!
